Our Ali completes epic transatlantic row
27 Jan 2025 - Congratulations to MCDOA Treasurer Ali Aindow on completing her epic row across the Atlantic as a member of the HMS OARDACIOUS Valkyrie team comprising four women serving in the Royal Navy. The team left La Gomera in the Canary Islands on 11 December and rowed continuously, two hours on, two hours off, for 46 days and 12 hours to complete the 2,762 nautical miles to English Harbour in Antigua.
Ali is the OIC of DTXG’s Delta Squadron Diving Unit 1. She was met in Antigua last night by fellow MCDOA member Mike Critchley who was wearing an appropriate Project Vernon polo shirt. Coincidentally, Mike tells me he had served with Ali’s father Bob in HMS LYNX in the Far East in 1969. Here they all are together.
